Hello,
Welcome to this presentation of our software products!I hope you will find this information useful and that our software might add significantly to the treatment of your patients. The software presented herein was developed at the NeuroScience Center of Indianapolis over the period from 1981 to now. Our patients have included those with brain injury, stroke, hypoxia, tumors, and other neurological anomalies and diseases. In addition, we have successfully treated children with attention deficit and learning disabilities with this same software and similar therapy protocol.
Our therapy program, at the NeuroScience Center, is set up as a homebased, outpatient rehabilitation program. The patient is seen at our center for 1 one-hour visit each week. During this intensive, interactive session, we evaluate the patient on all therapy exercises prescribed at the last session, troubleshoot cognitive strategies and performance difficulties, re-evaluate our treatment plan and prescribe (in detail) the therapy exercise assignments for the upcoming week. The patient then performs the therapy exercises at home, on their own computer, for at least 1 to 3 one-hour periods each and every day between the weekly sessions at the center. The whole program, as we administer it, typically takes the patient about 9 to 12 months to complete.
This treatment scenario provides a tremendous amount of therapy for the patient while holding the cost to the patient to a minimum. The greatest expenditure for the patient is their own time and effort. Since the computer is controlling the exercise presentation, measuring the patient's responses and documenting the home sessions in an extremely precise and comprehensive manner, the patient actually benefits much more from this therapy than might be possible with traditional three-times per week outpatient visits to the hospital.
We have designed our pricing structure for our software to make it feasible for other practices, who utilize our therapy software, to provide our homebased protocol to their patients. Once you, the clinician (or your facility), has purchased the system (or parts of it) at the regular prices, you or your patients (ordering on your purchase license) can purchase additional software modules, for the homebased work, at much reduced prices (see the ordering information section of this presentation for pricing). There are a growing number of facilities, around the world, following our model. Most of these facilities have the patient order their copies of the software directly from Psychological Software Services, one or two modules at a time, as needed in the course of therapy. Many of the patients simply call in their order and purchase via credit card. In these cases, we can ship same day.
The documentation provided in this presentation will describe the hows and whys of our therapy approach. Our published research attests to the effectiveness of our methods (Chen, S.H.A., Thomas, S.D., Gluekopf, R.L. and Bracy, O.L. The effectiveness of computer assisted cognitive rehabilitation for persons with traumatic brain injury, Brain Injury, 11:3, 197-209, 1997). In this research, the experimental group of brain injured patients (i.e. treated with the PSSCogRehab therapy) showed significant gains on 15 measures of neuropsychological functioning, while the control group of brain injured patients (i.e. treated through traditional therapies only) showed significant gains on only 7 of the measures. Furthermore, the people in the group treated with our computer assisted protocol were well past any period of spontaneous recovery.
I do hope you will enjoy our product presentation and will decide to give our products a try! If, after reviewing the information presented here, you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to write, call, fax or email us.
